CRIBS Foundation, Inc. (formerly C.R.I.B.S. PHILIPPINES, INC.) was started in 1974 when two Lutheran missionary wives brought home two children from the Reception and Study Center (RSCC) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. CRIBS was the first non-government organization (NGO) in the Philippines to implement Foster Care Program.
In 1979, CRIBS was incorporated as a non-profit, non-stock, non-government with the Securities and Exchange Commission. On the same year, it opened its home, called Receiving Home. Receiving Home Program which provides an alternative home environment for abandoned, surrendered, neglected and dependent children aged 0-2½ years old with end goal of permanently placing them in either their birth families or relatives or adoptive family. It is staffed with compassionate, professional and committed caregivers 24 hours a day.
